Our Process
How We Refinish a Shower
Every shower we refinish goes through the same careful process, whether it's a simple pan recoat or a full pan, wall, and enclosure refinish.
Protect & Prep the Space
We mask off the surrounding floor, walls, and fixtures with plastic sheeting and tape, and remove glass doors, tracks, and hardware so overspray stays contained to the shower itself.
Repair Cracks, Chips & Caulk Lines
Cracks in the pan or walls are repaired, and failing caulk or grout around the seams is removed before any coating goes on.
Strip, Etch & Sand
The existing surface is stripped of soap scum and old coating, then chemically etched and hand-sanded — working carefully into corners and around the drain.
Apply Non-Slip Texture (Optional)
If requested, a slip-resistant texture is added to the shower pan at this stage, broadcast into the surface before coating.
Prime & Spray the Coating
We spray a bonding primer followed by multiple coats of a watertight, high-gloss finish, worked into every seam and corner.
Cure, Reseal & Walkthrough
Drain hardware, glass doors, and caulking are reinstalled once the coating has flashed off. We walk the finished shower with you and confirm exactly when it's safe to use.

A refinished shower is durable, but how it's cleaned in the weeks after service matters — here's how to keep it looking new.
- Wait before use. Give the coating its full cure window — usually 24 to 48 hours — before running water.
- Squeegee after each use. Wiping down the walls and pan cuts down on soap scum and mineral buildup, keeping the finish glossy longer.
- Skip abrasive cleaners. Scouring powders, steel wool, and harsh abrasive pads will dull a refinished surface over time. Stick to non-abrasive liquid cleaners and a soft cloth or sponge.
- Choose bath mats carefully. Suction-cup or rubber-backed mats left in place can trap moisture against the surface — lift and dry them after use.
- Re-caulk the perimeter as needed. Caulking around the shower's edges wears faster than the coating itself — keeping it intact protects the seal underneath.
