How We Service & Refinish a Jetted Tub
Every jetted tub we work on goes through the same careful process, whether it's a jet line service and refinish or a full conversion to a standard soaking tub.
Protect & Prep the Space
Before anything else, we mask off the surrounding floors, walls, vanity, and fixtures with plastic sheeting and tape so overspray and dust stay contained to the tub itself.
Flush & Deep-Clean the Jet Lines
We run a cleaning solution through the jet system to break loose the biofilm, oils, and mineral scale built up inside the tubing, then flush it clear — the step that actually solves the black-fleck problem.
Repair Chips, Cracks & Worn Fittings
Chips, hairline cracks, and worn jet fittings are filled and repaired before any coating goes on, and given time to fully cure.
Strip, Etch & Sand
The existing surface is stripped of soap scum and old coating, then chemically etched and hand-sanded to create a profile the new coating can bond to.
Prime & Spray the Coating

Keeping a Jetted Tub Clean Between Services
Whether you keep the jets or convert to a standard tub, how it's cared for in the weeks after service matters.
- Wait before use. Give the coating its full cure window — usually 24 to 48 hours — before running water or getting in.
- Run a monthly cleaning cycle. If you kept the jets, fill the tub with hot water, add a small amount of low-foaming dishwasher detergent, run the jets for 10 to 15 minutes, then drain and rinse to keep the lines from building up biofilm again.
- Skip bath oils, bath bombs & bubble bath. These are the fastest way to clog jet lines and air intakes and undo a fresh cleaning.
- Skip abrasive cleaners. Scouring powders, steel wool, and harsh abrasive pads will dull a refinished surface over time. Stick to non-abrasive liquid cleaners and a soft cloth or sponge.
- Wipe air intake valves dry after each use. If your tub still has jets, this keeps moisture from sitting in the line between baths.
